ISOLATION TRANSFORMER :
  1.  Outputs will be isolated from inputs.
  2. Since the output connection is totally isolated from input connection any fault like short circuit in primary winding are not reflected on secondary side .
  3. Any faults, harmonics or Electrical disturbances or surges in primary side of transformer  are not transferred to secondary side due to Galvonic isolation on primary side .
  4.  Interference can be restrained with it.
  5.  The neutral-ground voltage will be reduced.
  6.  Faults can be isolated.
  7.  Low-frequency 3n-order harmonics will  be restrained .
  8. Isolation transformers  are the only way of eliminating general mode noise.
  9.  They also provide better safety to any equipment by Galvanic isolation.
  10.  They separate the device from the main power supply upon any electric shocks. So, they ensure that the concerned electric and electronic appliances are safe and secured for a longer time.
  11.  Isolation transformers are used to provide better quality power to the telecommunication equipment. Surges, spikes, and other such power-related problems may cause an irritating sound which interferes with the normal functioning of such devices. Isolation transformers prevent such problems. They improve the power quality and ensure that the telecommunication equipment is efficient and safe.
  12.  Provides Electromagnetic and Electrostatic shielding .
  13. Provides perfectly balanced neutral at zero potential.
  14. Reduces Noises, Spikes, Surges, Transients, stress on semiconductor components.

  • Note : Generally Isolation transformer has Major Application  in Datacenter to protect sophisticated Electronic devices , Servers , mainframes from all electrical faults and disturbances .
  • Isolation transformer voltage ratio is 1:1 , but there are special Isolation & Ultra isolation transformers which can step down and step up voltage based on applications.

ULTRA ISOLATION TRANSFORMER



  • Ultra isolation Transformer attenuates common mode noise and transverse mode noise and provides for noise or interference free power. In principle, UIT only transfers 50 Hz.
  •  Ultra isolation Transformer  prevents transfer of RF and HF disturbances with extensive insulation between primary and secondary.
  • Ultra-K-13  transformer Attenuates triplen harmonic currents from the line. 

  • They consist of a Delta primary and a Zig-Zag secondary. The Zig-Zag secondary causes a phase shift in the triplen harmonics, which results in a canceling effect.  This prevents the triplen harmonic losses from being coupled back into the primary and results in cooler operation and increased energy efficiency
